In Barranquilla

June 3, 2013

This is a common site - a horse/mule drawn cart of fruits and vegies.

I know I should have posted here a few days ago but haven't had a very good time with internet cafe's and the computers in them. I don't have my computer here, as it was going to be shipped ocean freight with some other stuff, including my sax, but that wasn't possible. Then I checked in to shipping air freight but that was prhibitively expensive (between $6000 and $7000). So I have no computer yet and am relying on internet cafe's.

Rain, Rain! Go Away!

May 29, 2013

Me (Chip), David, and Austin the day before I left the USA.

I arrived in Seattle on the 21st to a very cold, very wet welcoming. Rained off and on all through the day. Probably wouldn't have been so bad except I don't have a jacket, or a coat, being from Tucson those are rarely needed. So for this past week it has rained every day, in every city I've been to - Seattle, Lynnwood, Lake Stevens, Darrington, Leavenworth, Cashmere, Yakima, Prosser, Kennewick and Ocean Shores. Whew!

In Washington state now

May 21, 2013

Cheryl on a ferry in March 2006.

I arrived in Seattle on the 21st to a cloudy, wet, and quite cold day. Was quite a shock from the near 100 degrees in Tucson. And I have no jacket with me. I packed my jacket in one of the boxes of stuff I would ship to Colombia, and I wasn't expecting Seattle to be soooooo cold. It is almost June after all. Anyway, here I am, at Patti and Chad's house. Patti is Cheryls youngest sister.

Camping World, where I work

April 3, 2013

Sunset in Tucson, AZ.

I work for Camping World, the RV supplies/accessories stores. Been there for a year now. Some months back the company started this new publicity stunt called Project Good Samaritan. What it is is this: the company wants to put up a \"look at me, aren't I just the best!\" face to the public. So they mandated that every employee MUST, as in IT IS A REQUIRMENT OR ELSE YOU'LL BE FIRED, 'volunteer' for some good public project/organization, etc. It is FORCED VOLUNTEERISM, which isn't Volunteering at all. If a person is forced to do it, they are not volunteering, no matter what spin they put on it.

TEFL = Teaching English as a Foreign Language

I recently received my TEFL certification. And I am going to expand on it a bit with a more advanced grammar certificate. What will I do with this new certification when I am finished? That is something I will write more about in the coming months.

What's new in my life here in Tucson? Nothing much. I go to work and come home from work 5 days a week.

I used to teach English as a foreign language in Barranquilla, Colombia. Now I'm retired and traveling throughout South America.

I'm from Kennewick, Washington, USA. In my previous life, as I call it, I was an IT guy, systems administrator, computer tech, as well as a shipping/receiving guy and also worked as a merchandising guy in a RV/Camping store.
