The Christmas celebrations start today

Hi everybody! I hope all are doing well. I am.
Today, December 7, is the beginning of the Christmas season celebrations. Today is the celebration called "La Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción" which is "The Virgin of the Immaculate Conception". It is also commonly known as "El DÃa de las Velitas" or "Day of the candles". They celebrate this day all night long. They have a farolitos (luminarias).
I went for a walk a little before midnight and saw many of these luminarieas out in front of people homes and apartments. With the wind blowing there were a few that were burned, the ones with the tissue paper sides, but it appears that most are made of plastic or glass, so they don't have that problem. There is also music. Lots of loud music, and it will go on pretty much all night. So I won't be getting much sleep tonight. Some kids have fireworks, mostly big firecrackers, and there are some people who have bottle-rockets. So it is quite noisy and will be all night.
As for my english teaching - the months of November - February are vacation months here, much like summer vacation months in the US. Some of my students have taken December off of lessons, which has left me with 2 students, not enough to pay the bills. I sold my TV and will be selling my washing machine, I just bought it 2 1/2 months ago, so it's brand new still. I still owe money for my December rent, plus I need money for January rent. In January my other students are supposed to be starting lessons again, and another student as well, should be starting also.
