Las Flores, dinner, more photos

The restaurant on the Bocas de Ceniza in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Hi Everyone! I hope all are doing well. I am.

Here the Carnaval just finished this past Tuesday. The main weekend was last weekend, with parades and concerts all over the city. The main parades, in downtown, were on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with more smaller parades on Tuesday. I didn't see much of them, the crowds are unbelievably huge, and unless you get to the parade route at least a couple hours early you will be stuck at the back of the crowd unable to see anything more than heads walking down the road.

Carnaval!

February 24, 2014

Another dancer in the Barranquilla Carnaval.

I hope you are doing well. I am doing fine, my job is going fine.

This past weekend my friend Vivi and I went to the Guacherna parade for Carnaval and it did not turn out to be a very good evening. First we arrived too late to get anywhere near the parade so we couldn't see any of the parade, and we walked to every access location along the route. The crowds were so huge there was no way to squeeze in anywhere near the parade.

Carnaval kick-off, more students

January 20, 2014

Two young boys enjoying being in the carnaval.

The Barranquilla Carnaval got started this past weekend. The Carnaval Queen opened the celebrations with a speech and there was a concert. The crowd was huge, and I mean HUGE! My friend Vivi and I went down there to see the festivities, it was late, after 11pm when we headed there. She didn't want to go, but did so with me. I was hoping to get somewhat close to the stage to see the bands, but that was a hopeless task.

I used to teach English as a foreign language in Barranquilla, Colombia. Now I'm retired and traveling throughout South America.

I'm from Kennewick, Washington, USA. In my previous life, as I call it, I was an IT guy, systems administrator, computer tech, as well as a shipping/receiving guy and also worked as a merchandising guy in a RV/Camping store.
