This year I spent Christmas Eve day, Christmas, and the day after in the pueblo Filandia. Take a look at the pics in the photo album. It's a beautiful pueblo. And the climate is a bit on the cold side, at least for me.

Two-day bike ride

The other day I mapped out a route to ride. It would be a loop of around 100 kilometers. Nothing much to get excited about. Until I got out of the city and started into the actual route.

Book update and recent bike rides

Hi,

It's been too long since my last blog. This one is an update about my book and a couple of recent bike rides.

The book was with the editor recently, and she finished with a half-dozen suggestions for changes. I've been working hard on those and the final changes will require rewriting the last two chapters, but that's okay because it will be a better story when I'm finished.

And many of you have seen news reports of the protests in Colombia in recent weeks. You've probably even seen reports of up to 40 people who have died during those protests. That's all true, and it continues.

Visiting Valledupar in northern Colombia

This week I am in the small city of Valledupar in northern Colombia. Valledupar is a city of about half-million people in the greater metropolitan area. It sits between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Venezuela border. The city appears nice enough but my personal experience so far is that the people are not quite a friendly as in other cities and towns in Colombia. And I've been told over and over again to not go out walking alone because it's dangerous here. Well, I'm not going to sit in the hotel room all day every day simply because somebody says it dangerous.
