Carnaval kick-off, more students

The Barranquilla Carnaval got started this past weekend. The Carnaval Queen opened the celebrations with a speech and there was a concert. The crowd was huge, and I mean HUGE! My friend Vivi and I went down there to see the festivities, it was late, after 11pm when we headed there. She didn't want to go, but did so with me. I was hoping to get somewhat close to the stage to see the bands, but that was a hopeless task.

It was impossible because of the crowd. We then pushed our way back through the crowd to leave, which took a while to do. After that we went to a club/bar that often has live music on weekends, but it didn't on that night. Oh well. We stayed there, standing on the sidewalk, in another huge crowd, and watched some drunk guy who had to dance for every taxi (seems only taxi's were driving by that night), until the police pushed him aside. Then the next taxi, and another dance, and so on, repeat, over and over. It was quite funny though. The actual Carnaval will take place in the first week of March. I'm looking forward to it. They say the Barranquilla Carnaval is the second biggest Carnaval festival in the world, only the Rio de Janeiro Carnaval is bigger. Looks like I will have students soon. Maybe 11 students taking 2 two-hour classes per week. They will be evening classes. They are all from one company. I should have more details this week. The classes are supposed to start next Monday.

Right at this moment I cannot remember the other items I was going to write about. That's what happens when I don't write things down. Oh well. I'll remember what they were one of these days then I will add update the blog.
