Asunción, Paraguay, my second visit to this city, the capital of Paraguay. I wrote quite a lot about Asunción in May 2023 after my first visit, so this time I the blog for Asunción will be shorter. First, it's raining. On and off all day, each day, so my chances of exploring more of the city have been quite limited. Also, the charger thing for my laptop computer died so I had to spend a good chunk of one morning looking for a laptop service shop that had a replacement charger. Then, I spent more time walking around looking for a loundry service. So those two tasks ate up half of my first day here. The remainder of the day was a washout due to the constand drizzly rain.
The second day was clear blue skies with a few puffy clouds floating overhead. I explored the city center and the riverside park, Costañra. This city is obviously not well taken care-of by the city offices. the streets, parks, and plazas are dirty, the historic buildings are in need of renovation, and there are quite a few of them. I mentioned this a year-and-a-half ago when I visited Asunción and nothing's changed since. I'll be glad to leave and visit some pueblos. I don't like the noise and exhaust funes of the traffic here. So, goodbye Asunción, hopefully I won't have to return. My previous blog with lots of info about Asunción was posted on May 1, 2023.
I used to teach English as a foreign language in Barranquilla, Colombia. Now I'm retired and traveling throughout South America.
I'm from Kennewick, Washington, USA. In my previous life, as I call it, I was an IT guy, systems administrator, computer tech, as well as a shipping/receiving guy and also worked as a merchandising guy in a RV/Camping store.
