Mazamari, Perú

April 11, 2024

Mazamari, Perú, sits at an elevation of 664 meters (2180 feet) pretty much in the center of Perú.The economy is supported mostly with cacao, coffee, and based on what I have seen around town - oranges. I wrote about Mazamari after my previous visits, the first post is dated February 18, 2023 and the second was posted on July 27, 2023, so I won't be writing a lot this time.

Mazamari is a very quiet town with very little traffic and rarely do people honk their horns. I recall seeing three stoplights. There are only three city parks and they are nice parks. There is an area next to the river with a couple of restaurants and outside tables. Those restaurants cater to tourists, specifically. When I arrived in town I remembered I needed to buy new razor cartridges for my Mach 3 razor. Then I immediately thought that may not be so easy in such a small town, and it wasn't. I did walk all over downtown and asked in at least eight different pharmacies for the cartridges, and finally found some in an InkaFarma, apparently that is the only place in town that sells the Mach 3 cartridges. So, if you visit Mazamari, or any very small town, keep in mind that some things might not be readily available or easy to find.

Is Mazamari a tourist destination town? No, not really. It's more of a place to stop to eat on your way to a larger town. But it is a pleasant, quiet, relaxed town full of friendly people.
