A new short story - Today's Specials

November 12, 2021

"Jacob, get your ass off the couch and go look for a job!" Lynette said as she stood over her son, glaring at him lying on the couch, again.

"Mom, nobody's hiring, nobody wants to hire me, so why should I bother?"

"Because if you don't you'll be homeless. What do you think about that?"

"Seriously? Mom! You'd kick me out? Your own son?"

"Absolutely. Now get your ass out there knocking on doors and get a job. Any job. I don't care what it is, as long as it's a legit job." She swung her broom at him and hit him on his leg, not hard, but hard enough to get his attention.

A new short story - The Scent of Roses

July 4, 2021

Jerry is single, always has been, and he thinks probably always will be. Not because he's a boring guy, or homely, or scrawny, rather because he's just not into the online dating game or picking up women at a bar.

He is a hardworking guy. He opens his hardware store at the early hour of 6 am so the construction workers can come in a buy the supplies they need for their workdays. He leaves the store at 4 pm and his assistant closes the store at the early hour of 7 pm.

"Jerry, why don't you have a woman in your life?" asked Dylan, his assistant at the store.

A new short story - The Party

July 13, 2021

By the time Justin arrived at the house, the party had already started. The reveling was in full motion to the loud music, so loud you had to shout directly into the other person's ears. People were drinking, drunk, sitting, milling around, or dancing. Those who were outside on the patio, in the swimming pool, out in the yard somewhere, were having sex. Justin was alone, not having sex, not shouting, not drinking. He was one of the ones milling around.

Brenda had arrived earlier and had already had a few drinks but wasn't yet drunk, though she was feeling a bit tipsy.

A new short story - Cupid

July 3, 2021

"There she is!" said Alex, excitedly pointing across the street to a woman on the other sidewalk.

"Which one? There's at least a dozen women over there," replied his friend Jacob.

"She has the long black ponytail, the white boots, red skirt, and white shirt," Alex couldn't take his eyes off her, and as she was walking along the sidewalk she happened to look across the street, not at Alex, though he thought she had.

"Oh, yeah, she's hot, when did you meet her?" Jacob asked as he watched her walk along the opposite sidewalk. He saw that she was looking for a particular business.

A new short story - Gnomeland

June 27, 2021

Everyone in the neighborhood agreed—Tykka had the best-looking yard in the neighborhood. Her perfectly kept lawn, beautiful flowers of every possible color, and the gnomes, how could anybody get so many gnomes into a yard and it still look amazing?

There was an arc of flowers arranged like a rainbow that started at one side, swept across the lawn, and ended at the other side under a beautiful Blue Wisteria. On one side of the Wisteria was an orange and red Gulmohar Tree. On the other side was a yellow Cassia Fistula. Under the trees were some gnomes resting in hammocks, leaning against the tree trunks, or just sitting in the shade drinking from oversized mugs.
